Therapy for Individuals, Couples, Children, and Families

Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here

Greetings

Thank you for visiting my page. Let me tell you a bit about myself so that you can decide if therapy with me is what works best for you.

Clients gain an ally when they work with me.

Therapy sessions are where we co-explore the hope you want for your life. The sessions can hold all that you bring in with you: Whether it is trauma, loss, or suffering that you may be carrying, you are welcome.

I am a good fit for you if circumstances have caused you to feel powerless, stuck, isolated, or silenced, or if self-doubt, low self-confidence, and self-blame have come unwelcomed into your life. I work well with clients who have experienced the effect of anxiety, depression, and suicidal and negative thoughts, and those whose lives have been impacted by Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or feel the pressures of productivity, perfectionism, and people pleasing.

I love working with individuals, as well as couples and families - those who are overwhelmed by relationship strife, or who are living with the weight of social and worldly pressures. If resentment, disappointment, or anger have had a growing voice in your relationships, let’s work together to contain their effect and reclaim what strengthens your connections and relationships with others and with yourselves.

When collaborating with me, we address what is causing you distress as I help you shape a life that is rooted in your values. We explore together what brings meaning to your life.

My approach is warm, judgement free, and inclusive. It also pays attention to the complicity of the power structure that you live in. I believe that one’s experiences cannot be separated from the environment and context that hold them.

I witness your stories and I help you resist the problems that dominate in your life. In doing so, we collaboratively weaken the effects of problems and make space for the neglected stories of your wonderfulness. Together, we consider all your lived experience and what shapes who you are.

In sessions with me, individuals, couples, and family members have a safe space to bring their vulnerability and curiosity about themselves and the world. They feel at ease, heard and cared for, and their dignity is restored.

My Approach

About Me

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT Registration #139542

Supervised by David Marsten, LCSW 15899

Member - California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT)

I have a multi-cultural background and have lived and worked in places where human freedoms were restricted by systems of oppression. After more than 25 years working in Communications in the international humanitarian sector, I now partner with clients who are considering what life they want for themselves, or are facing up to problems and standing up to what makes them feel stuck.

I am familiar with what it feels like to be subjugated to powers that seem stronger than us and that keep us in fear. I believe in the dignity of living with hardship and in the power of resistance.

My goal is to help clients live a life that is meaningful to them and that lines up with their values. In my practice, I have seen how the resourcefulness of human beings can minimize the effects of problems and maximize the aspects of life that are useful to them. I truly believe in the power of people because I have seen it!
